My mother had always told me never to talk to strangers, when she hersefl was a stranger to me, so I guess it really wasn't that much of a surprise to me when she collapsed on the floor one evening while she was watching Deal Or No Deal. The loud noise that she made as she hit the floor startled me a bit as I sat at the kitchen table glancing tiredly at my english book. I sharply turned my head at the sound of her collapse, and rushed to her side.
Though, instead of helping her, I just stood over her and watched as she spuirmed, and spasmed on the floor before finally becoming still. I stared at her body for a moment before muttering: "Pity."
I had never been a very happy child, and that was thanks to the fact that my father: Monoke Kotetsu had been killed in a violent heist at the bank he worked at, and my mother didn't have enough strength to get up off her knees, and tried to drink away his memory nearly every night, and leaving me, a tiny 8 year-old to fend for myself.
It's been eleven years since my father's death, and all the while my mother never once acknowledged me, except to say "Don't talk to stragers!" as I walked out the door. She always told me that when I went out, in a shitty attempt to sound like she cared.
Now, it's been two years since my mothers death, and I never learned what killed her until I used the method myself. It was a cold, rainy day, and I was walking home from the grocery store, and there it was, right in front of me on the wet sidewalk. A simple black note book with only two words scrawled across the cover:
Death Note.
I stared at it with tired uncaring eyes, then something white caught my attention. It was a white eraser laying beside the notevook. After a moment of pondering, I knelt down and picked it up. In the middle of the book there was a single name: Light Yagami. I looked at the eraser in my hand, and erased the name.
Kira had been reborn.
